The Irondale Ensemble Project is as close as we come these days to the Elizabethan acting companies that once presented Shakespeare’s plays to the Earl of Leicester, Sir Francis Drake and the Virgin Queen of England. ...What is on offer is the miracle of the word made flesh. I wish you joy in it.” —Lewis Lapham, editor of Lapham’s Quarterly

Irondale Ensemble Project's partnership with Mark Morris Dance Group and BRIC, Brooklyn Creative Arts Lab (BCAL) is an extraordinary multi-disciplinary summer arts experience designed to develop young creative minds, ages 10-13.

Held in state-of-the-art facilities, and working under the direction of professional teaching artists, participants learn and explore the techniques and aesthetics of Visual Arts, Film/Media, Theater, and Dance. Over three weeks, teaching artists introduce participants to the fundamentals of each different art form, and expose them to contemporary examples of artistic expressions.

Students select two disciplines to focus on, and all disciplines work together to share ideas, collaborate, create, rehearse, and present an integrated stage spectacle.
